What if your greatest weakness became your greatest strength?

Chris Ruden was already overcoming one challenge—he’d been born with just 2 fingers on his left hand and a shortened arm.

Then, nineteen years into battling his physical situation, he was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes.

Rather than shrink or complain of what his physical AND physiological “limitations” made obvious up front, Chris grew stronger.

He earned a Bachelor’s in Exercise Science and turned his personal trials into purpose—becoming a keynote speaker, sharing his journey to uplift others with T1D while championing diversity and inclusion

July T1D Spotlight Story

Chris didn’t stop there. He entered NBC’s “Titan Games”—a national stage that showcased not only raw strength but also the triumph of managing T1D under pressure.

He says:

Sometimes you teach best what you need to learn most.

Chris went from hiding his condition to using it as a platform

Building a business, speaking internationally, and advocating for vulnerable communities, including kids in Uganda struggling with insulin access.

Think it’s not possible to have a fulfilling life with T1D (or missing body parts)?

I inspire you to think again. Because if the only 7-fingered, diabetic speaker, adversity coach and elite Powerlifter can think of a way, what’s stopping you?

You got this!
