Type 1 Diabetes 101
Did you or a loved one just find out one of you has type 1 diabetes?
If so, you’re in the right place!
Check out these interesting statistics:
- A 2021 study reports that approximately 537 million (20 – 79 years) or 10.5% of adults worldwide are living with diabetes (1).
- An estimated 283,000 children and adolescents under the age of 20 also have diabetes (2).
- Not only that but a global estimate suggests that 298 million people (5.8%) were estimated to have prediabetes (3).
- Lastly, about 80% of people with prediabetes don’t even know they have it (4)!
This devastating total comes out to well over 1.2 billion people suffering from some type of diabetes all around the world!
